Gaetano Pesce (born 1939) is an Italian architect and designer.
==Biography==
Gaetano Pesce was born in La Spezia in 1939.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.moma.org/collection/artists/4570 )〕 He studied Architecture at the University of Venice, an between 1958 to 1963 participant in Gruppo N, an early collective concerned with programmed art patterned after the Bauhaus. He has since worked worldwide as architect and designer for companies such as B&B Italia, Vitra and Cassina. His most famous building is the "Organic Building" in Osaka, and commissioned works include his proposal for Les Halles, Paris (1979); the converted Lingotto Fiat Factory, Turin (1983); and the Children’s House for Parc de la Villette, Paris (1985). He taught architecture at the Institut d’Architecture et d’Etudes Urbaines in Strasbourg, France, for 28 years, and at the Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh, Domus Academy, Milan, Polytechinc of Hong Kong, the Architectural School of San Paulo, and in New York, where he has lived since 1980, he has been a visiting professor of architecture at the Cooper Union. He is known as one of the first designers to challenge excepted notions of Modernism, since the 1960s, with functional, imperfect, and warm industrial deign. He is known for experimenting with new materials, and resin has become his signature. In 2014, a retrospective ''The Time of Diversity'' at The MAXXI, Italian: Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, Rome, charted Pesce's artful industrial productions from the 1960s to the 2015.
